Experience includes

The ultimate experience for any animal lover! Spend a whole day in the zoo working alongside our expert staff to care for some of your favourite animals.

During this intense and action packed day, you'll be working with animals from all over the world and can expect to enjoy all or some of the following:

  • Muck in with the mucking out
  • Get up close and personal as you meet some of our friendlier residents
  • Help prepare and hand deliver tasty treats

Your experience will involve working with a selection of the following – tapirs, zebras, bongos, giraffes, aardvarks, anteaters, camels, red river hogs, pelicans, penguins, otters, sea lions and lemurs.

We only accept one booking per slot, so your experience will be exclusive to you… and a friend if you can bring yourself to share!

Each experience lasts for six hours and you will be free to enjoy the zoo for the remainder of the day. You’ll also get a complimentary car park pass, lunch, certificates and a Blackpool Zoo souvenir.

Specific Terms & Conditions

  • You must be at least 18 years old to participate in this experience.
  • Maximum 2 participants per experience.
  • Because nature is unpredictable and the welfare of our animals is paramount, routines and itineraries may be adjusted without notice.
  • Keeper for the Day does not include any activities with tigers, lions, elephants, orangutans or gorillas.
  • Unfortunately, this experience is not suitable for wheelchair users, pregnant women or people with epilepsy.

Due to the ongoing situation with Coronavirus COVID-19 (see our latest updates here) we have taken the decision to suspend all sales and bookings of Animal Experiences at this time. All current bookings will still be honoured as long as we remain open. Please keep checking back as we will open bookings again once this crisis is over.


For anyone with a currently unbooked voucher, we will be looking to extend your expiry date once we are accepting bookings again. Further information will be emailed to you when you are able to book again.

The health of our zoo family, which includes our visitors, staff and animals, is our top priority. In light of the most recent advice from Public Health England and the government, we have closed Blackpool Zoo at until further notice.

Please be assured that our dedicated keeper team will continue to provide the best care for our animals during the closure.

If you’ve booked tickets for any day during this closure, you can exchange them for any other date in 2020 or we can provide a refund. Please send your booking details to tickets@blackpoolzoo.org.uk.
