Animal Experiences for Visitors with Disabilities
We have tried to make our range of Animal Experiences as accessible as possible, however due to the nature of our working environment, regrettably we are unable to accomodate everyone.
Visitors requiring the use of a wheelchair are welcome to take part in any of the following experiences - Meet the Lemurs, Meet the Tortoises, Meet the Giraffes, Keeper Experiences (African Plains, Jungles & Rainforests or Oceans & Deserts) or Feed a Giraffe. Please note however that your experience may differ slightly from that of other visitors and the variety of animals you work with on a Keeper Experience may be altered.
Working in close proximity with animals is unadvisable for immunocompromised individuals. Please contact us on 01253 830805 for advice before purchasing.
People with Epilepsy
We ask that anyone with epilepsy is accompanied by a carer throughout their experience. Suitable experiences include - Meet the Lemurs, Meet the Giraffes, Keeper Experiences (African Plains, Jungles & Rainforests or Oceans & Deserts) or Feed a Giraffe. Please note however that your experience may differ slightly from that of other visitors and the variety of animals you work with on a Keeper Experience may be altered.
All other disabilities
Where possible, we will make reasonable adjustments to an experience to accommodate those with a disability or learning difficulty, due to practicality and health and safety this cannot always be achieved. If you have a specific disability or need and would like to know what experiences you can take part in, please contact us for advice before purchasing. We do ask when booking any experience if the participant has any disabilities, additional needs or allergies we should be aware of. If anything stated is likely to cause a problem or an adjustment to your experience, please rest assured we will be in touch shortly after receiving your booking to discuss this with you.
Any visitor with a registered disability is welcome to bring an accompanying carer along with them free of charge (except for Sea Lion Meet and Greets, please see below). However, please be aware that the accompanying carer will not be permitted to participate in the experience unless they have paid for a place as an additional participant. Please bring proof of disability on the day of your experience - this could be evidence of DLA or PIP, Blue Badge (along with photo ID) or a Medical Letter confirming disability. Please don’t be offended by our staff asking – some disabilities are not visible and we try to treat all our visitors the same.
Sea Lion Meet and Greet
Regrettably, due to the environment and proximity to water, we are unable to allow anyone to take part in this experience who cannot fully participate independantly. For this reason, accompanying carers will not be permitted to enter the enclosure unless they are a paying participant themselves.
