Earlier this year, Western lowland gorillas Meisie and Moanda were moved to Mysuru Zoo in India as part of global conservation efforts. Six months on, we're thrilled to update you on these two beloved gorillas.

After undergoing a standard quarantine period and being given time to settle into their new surroundings, the Mysuru Zoo team recently began introductions between Meisie, Moanda and silverback male Quembo. This process went smoothly, with all three gorillas quickly adapting, feeding alongside one another, and displaying positive social behaviours.

In the days that followed, the team closely observed the troop, witnessing some minor dominance-related interactions, which is normal and to be expected, with the group dynamic stabilising quickly.

The troop now have access to their main outdoor habitat together, where they have spent time exploring and engaging in playful behaviour, which is a very encouraging development, highlighting their growing social bond and confidence.

This successful introduction marks a significant milestone in the management plan for the gorilla troop and hopefully a step forward in helping to strengthen the genetic diversity of the international gorilla population.

We're thrilled to update you on the recent move of gorillas Meisie and Moanda.
