A team of staff and interns from multiple departments across the zoo joined 600 other volunteers to assist with the Fylde Sand Dunes, Lancashire Wildlife Trust, Fylde Council and Blackpool Council Christmas tree project.
In just two days, volunteers managed to plant almost 3000 trees which will help create new embryo dunes. These will act as a form of soft-sea defence, whilst providing a vital habitat for native wildlife and reintroduced species such as the sand lizard.
