Keeper School - 2015 courses now available!
We’ve recently released the dates for our 2015 Keeper School courses. With three different levels, suitable for ages 8-17, these courses provide experience with zoo animals including reptiles, primates, large mammals and elephants. Our Keeper School courses provide the perfect first steps for anyone looking for a career working with animals.
Level One: Keeper Kids
Keeper Kids is a two day programme designed to give children aged 8-11 years an opportunity to learn all about the animal kingdom, enjoy working with animals in a zoo and discover more about a zoo keeper’s job.
Level Two: Zoo School
Zoo School is an initiative for children aged 12-14. It follows on from Keeper Kids, teaching more about the unique lives of the many endangered animals at Blackpool Zoo. GCSE Science coursework is reinforced with hands on experience resulting in better informed choices for sixth form and college.
Level Three: Blackpool Zoo Keeper Academy
Blackpool Zoo Keeper Academy is a 10 day course for young people aged 15-17 years old. This course consists of theory sessions on working with different exotic species as well as over 30 hours of practical experience with a range of zoo animals including invertebrates reptiles, primates, large mammals and elephants.
The course is designed for those who wish to pursue a career with animals and require practical experience to enhance their application. Those who wish to become vets, vet nurses, zookeepers or complete other animal based studies will definitely benefit from this exciting course.
