At Blackpool Zoo, we aim to ensure that all of our visitors experience a fantastic day out. It’s not just about the amazing animals, each member of our team plays a part in making this happen.

For the following vacancies we are seeking confident, enthusiastic, flexible and motivated staff aged 16 or over. Experience isn’t necessary but a SMILE is a must.

Retail Staff

Being a zoo keeper can be messy… but looking after our army of cuddly plush animals is easy – they don’t need feeding and there’s no animal poo to shovel! Working in one of our two gift shops, you will find yourself stocking shelves, taking in deliveries and assisting customers find the perfect souvenir.

Catering Staff

It’s feeding time at the zoo – Just like our animals, we need to make sure our visitors are fed and watered throughout the day. Whether you’re serving hot meals in the café, or ice-creams on a sunny day, working as part of our Catering team is a diverse and exciting role! Your duties may include preparing and serving food, taking deliveries, stocking up, clearing tables, pot-wash and money-handling.

Cleaners

Zoo Keepers take care of the animal enclosures, but we need people to help us take care of the human-only areas. You’ll be keeping public indoor areas and toilets block clean throughout the day and some experience in a visitor environment is preferred.

Visitor Services Assistant

Our Visitor Services team are the face of Blackpool Zoo, helping visitors have a safe and enjoyable day out. You will mainly be working at admissions, taking payments and answering visitor queries, you may be asked to help direct in the car park or help to keep the zoo grounds clean and presentable.  You should be a strong communicator who is polite, helpful and confident. It may be necessary to walk distances around the zoo and you should be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Grounds Staff

It takes a team to keep our grounds looking tip top. This role will see you keeping the park tidy, picking up litter, emptying litter bins, general tending of beds, mowing and helping out on the car park.

Photography

Say cheese!! Upon arrival at the zoo, our visitors are whisked away on a safari adventure to stand amongst lions and tigers… Well, that would be a bit too dangerous. So instead we need photographers to help maintain the illusion! All training will be provided but a creative eye and outgoing personality is a must. Some customer service experience would be of benefit.

Car park Assistant

First impressions really do count and as our visitors arrive we want them to be able to safely park in a well maintained car park, be able to purchase tickets efficiently and start their day out being greeted with a welcoming smile.

 

We are looking to fill a number of vacancies with various start dates, including February half term. All jobs are seasonal, occasionally weather dependent, with full and part-time hours available. We’ll provide full training and uniform (where necessary) and we pay up to living wage (dependent on age). We also offer a whole host of benefits including complimentary zoo tickets, discounts and free parking… Oh, and you’ll be working in an award winning zoo!!

We’re going to the zoo, zoo, zoo… On arrival at the zoo you can see the excitement on our visitor’s faces – little kids and big kids alike. Could you be the person that welcomes them and helps kick start their adventure? You’ll be greeting the visitors with a smile, managing the queues and selling tickets. You'll need to have excellent communication skills and be comfortable in a fast-paced customer service role.

Activities

There’s fun to be found in every corner of the zoo – from face-painting by the big cats to selling balloons and manning the bouncy castle. This role will see you out and about in the zoo interacting with our visitors, and selling your goods or services. If you think you could transform a toddler into a tiger or giggly golfer into the next tiger woods… this is the job for you. This position would require the candidate to be physically fit and have a mature attitude.

Train Driver

All aboard!! Our miniature train needs a driver! Could you take to the tracks and guide visitors on a mini safari? Duties include driving the train, basic train maintenance and interaction with visitors. This position would require the candidate to be physically fit, flexible in regards to working hours and have a mature attitude.

Playbarn

Our smaller visitors just love the Playbarn - with its colourful, multilevel frame it’s the perfect place for little monkeys to run wild. Duties include monitoring the welfare and safety of children within the play barn, reception work, cleaning and catering - all whilst providing excellent customer service to visitors of all ages.

Party Host

There ain't no party like a wild zoo party!! As a Party Host you'll be working with groups of children and helping them celebrate their birthday in style. Are you a pro at Party Games? Can you sing Happy Birthday like no other? If you've got what it takes to get even the wildest of parties started - this is the job for you! Applicants must be bubbly, outgoing and enthusiastic.
