Wallaby Walkabout

You are here

Hop along to another walk-through enclosure which is home to our wallabies and kangaroos and was opened in 2010. These are related species and they get along very well. Their undulating paddock with its hill and caves in which to shelter from bad weather, lets you get as close to these amazing animals as you would down under!

You can play “spot the joey” by looking out for the babies in pouches! They pop in and out when they get a bit bigger and kids love to see their feet sticking out of mum’s pouch!

The larger kangaroos are very laid back and lie about, chilling in the sun. You can easily see the differences between kangaroos and wallabies at feeding times.

Blackpool Zoo is Open!

As part of Step 2 of the national roadmap out of lockdown we are allowed to open once again.

However, we will not be allowed to open most indoor areas: the indoor eating area of the cafe is closed, as are the indoor viewing area of animal houses including elephants, big cats, giraffes, small primates, gorillas and orangutans. These animals all have access to their outdoor enclosures, however they may take themselves inside during inclement weather.  Lemur Wood and Rainbow Landings remain closed.

A full list of restrictions and measures in place can be found here.  Please ensure you read them before you book your tickets as they are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.

We really look forward to welcoming you back to Blackpool Zoo.
