Blackpool Zookeeper Academy
Blackpool Zoo is pleased to announce its animal based course for young people aged 15-17 years old. The course will run over 10 sessions from 10.30am-3pm, including theory sessions on working with different exotic species as well as over 30 hours of practical experience with a range of zoo animals including invertebrates reptiles, primates, large mammals and elephants.
The course is designed for those who wish to pursue a career with animals and require practical experience to enhance their application. Those who wish to become vets, vet nurses, zookeepers or complete other animal based studies will benefit from this exciting new course.
Supported at all times by our education team, students complete an evidence portfolio of their work, a certificate of completion and a written reference.

2012 Courses – Now Booking
Applications are now being accepted.
Term time course – 10 Saturdays. 12 student max per course
April 28th, 2012 - June 30th
September 8th, 2012 - November 24th (excluding weekends of 27th October and 3rd November)
Summer Schools – 10 days ( Monday to Friday for 2 weeks). 12 student max per course
Summer School 1: July 23rd - August 3rd, 2012
Summer School 2: August 6th - August 17th, 2012
Summer School 3: August 20th - August 31st, 2012
Cost? Each course is priced at £350 per person. This price does include a discount card for the shop and cafe that can be used on course days and a complimentary family zoo ticket that can be used on the last day of the course.
