Pedal to Protect Wildlife
Last year we launched our ambitious Pedal to Protect Wildlife campaign, with the aim to cycle a massive 30,115 miles. That’s the distance it would take to travel around the world to visit each of the 8 international conservation projects we support.
With the use of static exercise bikes in the zoo, last year our staff and visitors made it almost the half way point of our epic journey, and now we need your help to bring us home!
Natalie Ward, Education, Conservation and Research Manager, says “Our aim is to make our visitors feel they can make a difference helping us raise awareness and funds for the particular animals Blackpool Zoo supports. We are doing this with our most ambitious project yet - ’Pedal to Protect Wildlife’.
To help us crack this challenge, why not hop on your bike and see how many miles you can add to our total? Using the form below you can pledge any miles you've cycled to our total and help us make it home!
We're hoping to arrive home in style with a Pedal to Protect Finale through the iconic Blackpool Illuminations as we Ride the Lights on Tuesday August 29th. If you're interested in joining our finale, the event is part of the Blackpool Illuminations and is free for all participants - more details can be found here.
You can follow our progress throughout the year on our Wildlife Learning Facebook Page.
So far, we've cycled 12,781 miles - that puts us about 200 miles away from reaching the Orangutan Foundatin in Borneo.
