This is where the action is - living with the animals, day in, day out. The hustle and bustle of everyday life in the Zoo is non-stop.

Teamwork is the key, and making sure that all of the animals get all the care and attention they need, making their life at the Zoo a healthy and happy one.

At all times throughout the day, an animal is being fed or exercised. We feed the animals at the Zoo over a ton of carrots, 6 boxes of bananas, 8 boxes of apples and 10 bags of potatoes every week.

First Thing - Cleaning the Enclosures

A job that has to be done every day, to make sure that the animals are kept happy, healthy and clean. No-one would like to live in a dirty house now, would they?

Mid Morning - Food Preparation

Every animal has their own special diet. From the Brazilian agouti to the African zebra, specific feed and vitamins means that a special shopping list is required.

Late Morning - Sealion Feeding

Feeding the sealions is fun to watch, and is also a vital part in their exercise programme.

Lunchtime - Elephant Exercise and Bathtime

This is part of keeping our elephants fit, healthy and happy and is an amazing sight to see.

The elephants eat over a ton of potatoes and carrots a month.

Afternoon - Vet Arrives for His Regular Visit

The Zoo vet keeps a check on all our animals. If one of them becomes poorly, they are either cared for in their enclosure or taken to the special animal hospital.

Evening - Zoo Closes to the Public

The Zoo gates close, but still the work goes on as there are plenty more things to do before bedtime.

Night - Elephants' Supper and Bedtime

The last job of the day is to feed the elephants their supper. We make sure that all is well, and then it's goodnight and sleep tight.

But, for the nocturnal animals, the day is just beginning ...........
