Welcome to Our World

WELCOME TO OUR WORLD !

Different areas of the world have different climates that are created by various factors such as weather and altitude. Each area has many species of plants and animals that have adapted to suit the conditions of their home. These areas include :

Hot Forest The climate in the hot forest is one of high temperatures and heavy rainfall throughout the year. This creates rich plant-life and wildlife from the forest floor to the treetops all year round.

Hot Grassland Although the hot grasslands enjoy high temperatures, the rains tend to come in seasons. The African savannah, for example, is home to many species during the rainy months, but, when the drought arrives, many animals migrate.

hotdesert.jpg

Hot Desert Blazing hot in the day, freezing cold at night, and hardly any rainfall all year. Only the toughest plants, such as cacti, can survive here. You'd be surprised how many different kinds of animal live in such an empty-looking place.

Warm Forest The warm woodlands change drastically every season. Hot summers, colourful autumns and cold, bare winters. There is a spectacular range of plants and animals living here, many of which migrate in the winter.

Warm Grassland These areas range from the prairies of North America and the Central asian Steppes to the rocky grasslands of Australia. They do not get much moisture as they are usually surrounded by mountains or are too far inland.

Warm Desert A good portion of this rare habitat is in the Mediterranean. The summers are hot and dry, whilst the winters are cool and moist. This climate enables oranges, lemons, olives, herbs and spices as well as many other types of vegetation to flourish.

Cold Forest / Grassland Situated in the far North, cold forests stretch from Siberia across to northern Asia, Europe and America. Here, the long winters mean that only tough evergreen trees can survive. These areas are known as Taiga.

Water World Whether you're talking about the sea, rivers, lakes, puddles or ponds, life in and around water requires some very special plants and animals.

Mountain The world's highest points are mountains. The climate changes the higher up you get, with the tallest mountains being home to some of the coldest and toughest habitats on earth.
